Chautauqua Brick Co. Inc. continues to serve the community through it’s four locations, Bemus Point, Fredonia, Great Valley and Jamestown. For more than 40 years Chautauqua Brick has been under the leadership of Ross (Bill) Briggs until his death in October 2020. Peter Briggs, Bill’s son has taken over the roll as President of operations, Charles Shick (original owners Grandson) as Vice President and Nathan and Stephen Briggs rounding out the family company leadership.
With more than 73 years in business, Chautauqua Brick has a rich and varied history. In 1948 Arlon Shick and William Bartell purchased the Old Carlson Barn, formed a partnership and began manufacturing brick and block at the current location. Later they were joined by Richard Bartell and Ross Briggs completing the family run business and expanding production to include patio block, stone cutting and block distribution. In 1976 Bill Briggs joined the family business and quickly saw there was an opportunity to serve the construction needs in the community. Through the years Lumber, Plywood, Windows, Doors and Hardware were added. Today Chautauqua Brick offers a full range of building materials for all your needs FROM FOUNDATION to ROOFTOP. For the discerning paint customer Chautauqua Brick offers a full line of Benjamin Moore paint and accessories at all our locations. We offer the convenience of free estimates and blueprint take offs along with Outside Sales personnel to work hand and hand with our clients for a more pleasurable experience.
